Frequently Asked Questions about Ceremonies
1. What types of ceremonies do you offer?
I offer a range of personalised ceremonies including weddings, commitment ceremonies, vow renewals, baby naming ceremonies, and celebration of life ceremonies. Each ceremony is created uniquely to reflect your story, values, and intentions.
2. Are you an authorised marriage celebrant?
Yes, I am an authorised marriage celebrant registered with the Australian Government and can legally officiate marriage ceremonies in accordance with Australian law.
3. Can our ceremony be personalised?
Absolutely. Every ceremony I create is written specifically bespoke for you. Together we weave your story, values, rituals, and intentions into a meaningful and memorable experience.
4. Can spiritual or ritual elements be included?
Yes. If desired, ceremonies can include sacred elements such as cacao ceremonies, sound healing, handfasting, unity rituals, intention setting, or other meaningful symbolic traditions.
5. What is involved in the planning process?
Once your ceremony date and type is booked, we will connect to explore your vision, story, and intentions. From there I create a personalised ceremony script and guide you through the process to ensure everything flows smoothly on the day.
6. Can family members or friends be involved in the ceremony?
Absolutely. Many couples and families choose to include loved ones through readings, rituals, music, or special moments within the ceremony.
7. How long does a ceremony usually take?
Most ceremonies run between 20–40 minutes, depending on the type of ceremony and any rituals or personal elements included.
8. How far in advance should we book?
It’s always best to book as early as possible to secure your preferred date, especially during popular wedding seasons. However, feel free to reach out if your ceremony is sooner — I’ll always do my best to accommodate.
9. Do you travel for ceremonies?
Yes, I’m happy to travel for ceremonies. Travel arrangements and any associated costs can be discussed during the planning process depending on the location.
10. What Happens if it Rains or plans change?
If your ceremony is outdoors, it’s always helpful to have a backup plan or alternative location available. We can discuss options together during the planning process so you feel prepared and relaxed.
Now- The legal Section
11. What legal paperwork is required to get married in Australia?
To be legally married in Australia, couples must complete a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) and provide proof of identity such as a passport or birth certificate.
If either partner has been previously married, supporting documentation such as a divorce certificate or death certificate will also be required.
As your celebrant, I will guide you through this process and ensure all legal requirements are completed correctly.
12. When do we need to complete the Notice of Intended Marriage?
The Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged at least one month before your ceremony date.
This can be completed with me during one of our meetings, and I will talk you through the process and required identification.
13. Do we need witnesses at our ceremony?
Yes. Australian marriage law requires two witnesses over the age of 18 to be present at the ceremony and sign the legal marriage documents.
Witnesses are usually family members or close friends.
14. What happens after the ceremony?
After your ceremony, I will lodge all legal documentation with Births, Deaths and Marriages to officially register your marriage.
You will then be able to apply for your official marriage certificate through the relevant state registry.
15. Are all ceremonies legally binding?
Legal marriage ceremonies include the required legal wording and documentation.
Other ceremonies such as commitment ceremonies, vow renewals, and other life celebrations are beautiful symbolic ceremonies and do not include legal marriage registration.
